The professional breeder, does more than just breed and show dogs. They temperament test their puppies, they collect information from prospective owners, and they evaluate their puppies and then select the puppy that has the personality that matches the prospective family. This ensures that each puppy will thrive in their new home and bring joy to their new families.

So what is wrong with picking the cutest puppy? Well, people take a risk when they choose a puppy with their eyes with no regard to breed, temperament and their own lifestyle. Mismatches can happen for a variety of reasons. However,the main focus of a reputable breeder is to ensure lifetime placement, that can be achieved by matching the right puppy to the right family.

One of my greatest responsibilities is to make sure that each puppy that I bring into this world is given the best opportunity to live and grow with the right family. This most certainly works to your benefit as well. Therefore, placement of our puppies is always at breeder's discretion. This requires your flexibility in regard to the color and sex of the puppy.

One of the main things that people are unaware of in this breed is the fact that the color of the parents has little bearing on the color of the offspring.If you look at a litter of Havanese puppies, you will see varied colors and most times litter mates will not resemble the parents nor one another!

So, if you must have a specific color, be prepared to wait and wait and possibly wait some more, to guess the colors is a gamble at best and reputable breeders are as rare as the breed.
