Visiting Renaissance Havanese

Many people inquire about visiting our home, they want to "see" a Havanese or make sure that they are not allergic, or just check us out to make sure that our dogs are well cared for happy and healthy. These are valid reasons and it is recommended that you visit your prospective breeder.
However, there are times when this is not practical. When a Renaissance Havanese is expecting, three weeks prior to the birth and up to when the puppies are eight weeks old, our home is in self-imposed quarantine. This is for the health of the puppies and the comfort of the new mother. There is a danger of introducing diseases such as Parvo, which can be fatal to unvaccinated puppies. These diseases can be brought into our home on your shoes and clothing. Parvo is a hardy disease that can remain in the environment for up to six months. You may not even be aware that you were exposed, the risk is increased if you have visited a Veterinary hospital, a pet store, an animal shelter or another breeder.
You can see why we would be highly concerned about protecting our dogs. parvo is just one example of the many diseases that can be fatal to our puppies.
Stress is another reason why you would not be able to visit or handle our young puppies, dams are very protective of their young , visitors can disrupt the relationship with their whelps. The handling of young pups can induce shock and introduce diseases or germs that their immature immune systems cannot fight.
The health and wellbeing of our dogs will, under no circumstances be compromised. If this seems excessive to you, then I encourage you to go elsewhere as I am looking for families who care just as much as I do. I do not keep my dogs in a concrete kennel, they are in my home, we don't use harsh germ killers here, we use common sense.
During these quarantine times, we are happy to provide you with references. As always, Renaissance Havanese has a REFUNDABLE deposit policy. So that when you do visit us, if for ANY REASON you are not satisfied, you have every right to a full refund of your deposit- period. We are one of the few breeders who offer this because we are confident that we will exceed your expectations.
To avoid accidental injury to our puppies: children must be seated on the floor, at all times, while handling the puppies, please discuss this with them prior to your visit.
In closing, I must point out that we do not recommend "sight seeing" this is when someone with no intention on purchasing one of our Havanese dogs, takes advantage of our close proximity and our valuable time to see the Havanese before deciding to have one shipped to them from another breeder. This is very inconsiderate to our family. I would be happy to discuss the Havanese breed with anyone over the phone and provide helpful information and even assistance with referrals to other reputable breeders.
